Summary of expertise:

  • Research experience, demonstrated through the extensive research I’ve conducted for a number of projects, in my Master of Environmental Management studies, and for my extensive portfolio of articles and stories and publications.

Career highlights:

  • Completing a Master of Environmental Management with Distinction at the University of Newcastle, Australia. Degree was awarded with Distinction due to a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 6.75 out of a possible maximum score of 7.
  • Completing a Community Profile Analysis for the Sydney Metropolitan Catchment Management Authority (CMA) using Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Census data and other socio-economic statistics and references. The Community Profile Analysis – Sydney Metropolitan Regioncomprises a series of ten reports covering both the overall Sydney Metropolitan CMA region (Report 1) and each of eight Places the CMA identified within the region based on social, economic and ecological criteria (Reports 2 to 9). There is also an Appendix of Tables (Report 10). Subsequent to the preparation of the Community Profile Analysis – Sydney Metropolitan Region, I also prepared a similar Community Profile Analysis – Parramatta River Catchment.
  • Researching and reporting flow-ecology relationships in the Shoalhaven River Water Supply Transfers and Environmental Flows Project. I compiled, edited and published the two major project reports Determining and managing environmental flows for the Shoalhaven River, Report 1 – Environmental Flows Knowledge Review and Determining and managing environmental flows for the Shoalhaven River, Report 2 – Environmental Flows Investigations. I also coordinated the estuary investigation component of the project including the conduct of research, the identification of best practice, and the preparation of the Discussion Paper Environmental water requirements for the Shoalhaven River estuary.
  • Working as Research Assistant for the University of Queensland Dwyer’s Scrub Conservation Park and Neighbours Case Study Project. This involved conducting interviews with landholders adjoining Dwyer’s Scrub Conservation Park to identify issues and concerns, and then convening an issues resolution field day to facilitate joint understanding and initiate ways forward to address the issues and concerns.
  • Researching and writing the comprehensive Gatton Shire Biodiversity Strategy, which involved research and analysis to identify conservation approaches and mechanisms appropriate to the area and its circumstances. This included studying and addressing the recommendations of the Australian National R&D Program on Rehabilitation, Management and Conservation of Remnant Vegetation.
  • Collating and editing the proceedings for a series of biodiversity conferences including the 1998 WWF South-East Queensland Rainforest Recovery Conference and the 2000, 2001 and 2002 Southern Queensland Biodiversity Conferences.
