Shanxi University Teaching
From July 2015 to June 2018, I taught at Shanxi University, which is located in Taiyuan, the capital city of Shanxi Province in northern China. I taught:
- Academic English writing, oral English, and cultural awareness to undergraduate students.
- Academic English writing to senior professionals from around Shanxi Province who will go overseas as visiting experts.
My teaching also included initiating and teaching two new knowledge management (KM) subjects, being:
- An introductory KM subject as part of undergraduate library and information science (LIS) courses.
- A KM and innovation subject for PhD students in the School of Economics and Management.
While living in Taiyuan, I was invited to visit MaBuCun (Mabao Village) in Wuxiang County for Lantern Festivals and to tour natural and historic attractions in the area. From the insights I gained, I wrote the article “Memorable Times” for the Beijing Review newspaper.
