Living in the Lockyer Property Management Planning Kit

I prepared the Living in the Lockyer Property Management Planning Kit as an accompanying resource to the Lockyer Catchment Centre guidebook Living in the Lockyer – A Landholders Guide to Land, Water, Wildlife and Vegetation Management in the Lockyer Catchment and Surrounds. I designed the Property Management Planning Kit as a resource for landholders who were not rural producers, for example hobby farmers, rural residential landholders or landholders who owned bush blocks. The existing Queensland Government ‘Futureprofit’ program was already available for rural producers, but there had been no complementary program for other landholders.

While designed for use with the Living in the Lockyer guidebook, the Property Management Planning Kit has also be used with other similar resources in other areas.

I also prepared a Property Management Planning (PMP) Technical Note from the Land Use Planning Handbook for the Lockyer Catchment for use with both the ‘Futureprofit’ program and the Living in the Lockyer Property Management Planning Kit.

As well as preparing the Property Management Planning Kit, I conducted the following related workshops:

• a series of train-the-trainer workshops to train Lockyer Catchment community group representatives in the use of the kit
• a series of five property management planning workshops using the kit for 15 Lockyer Catchment landholders
• a series of five property management planning workshops using the kit for 30 Oxley Creek Catchment landholders, in collaboration with the Oxley Creek Catchment Association (OCCA).

The Lockyer Catchment Centre guidebook Living in the Lockyer – A Landholders Guide to Land, Water, Wildlife and Vegetation Management in the Lockyer Catchment and Surrounds has since been superseded by the new resource Living in the Landscape: the Lockyer Valley. A guide to property and landscape management. The Property Management Planning Kit could still be used in conjunction with this resource.
