Australian Documentaries and the Institute for Sustainable Futures, at University of Technology Sydney have partnered for Water Stories, the frst online collaborative documentary making process in the world. The Water Stories documentary will voice water issues that are most concerning or ideas that are most inspiring to Western Sydney-siders.
The Sydney Water Balance Project is the only research to date that has tried to determine the potential impacts of climate change on greater Sydney’s water supply and demand. The results of the project provide information on how greater Sydney’s water supply may be affected by climate change over time, and indicate that there may be decreases in annual rainfall and runoff in the inland catchments and minor increases in coastal catchments by 2030. All PowerPoint presentations with audio from the Land & Water Australia Legacy Conference – Knowledge for Managing Australian Landscapes are now available. This conference explored the knowledge that Australia needs to better manage its natural resources in an increasingly challenging policy, social and biophysical context. It did so through the lens of the research portfolio of Land & Water Australia. Leading Australian researchers and NRM practitioners were asked to distil the lessons from the 1800 or so projects / programs funded by LWRRDC / LWA over the last 20 years. Phase 2 of the Knowledge for Regional NRM Program was delivered between July 2006 and June 2008. Products and services were successfully developed and implemented to address the people and culture issues and technological solutions needed to successfully manage information and knowledge in the natural resource management (NRM) sector.
